CRACKlin' for a Reason: An Ode to Breakfast Cereal

While it may look like dried cat food, this particular breakfast cereal, I'm quite certain, possesses crack-like qualities. (And apparently, based on my google image search, it can be purchased in a 4-pack from amazon.com...who knew?).

And I might be placing myself in the 80 year old with a colon problem category, but there's something about Grape Nuts that draws me in. Unlike most, I just don't equate this cereal with rocks.

That's all.

I love cereal. Right now I am partial to Special K chocolate. Have you tried Just Bunches. It is just the bunches (who would have guessed that) of Honey Bunches of Oats.

I grew up with a mom who made us breakfast every morning. EVERY MORNING! We never had cereal. EVER.

Ironically, I married a man who could live off of cereal. Hence, my kids love it. But they have my genes as well, so they eat things like raisin bran, cracklin' oat bran, Kashi, shredded wheat, etc. None of that sugar coated cardboard.

When they pull out their bowls for cereal in the morning (on the rare days we have cereal), I opt for oatmeal or cracked wheat. If I have Grape Nuts around, they get nuked in the microwave. My cereal is going to be HOT!

I see my own blogpost regarding this.

I'm still partial to Shredded Mini Wheats with the thin layer of frosting. :) Because it requires no extra effort to put any sugar on it.

I remember as kids we would dump three of four spoonfuls of sugar on our cereal in the morning...and it was already sugared cereal. EEW! And I wonder why I have dental problems at 33. :)

Bug refuses to eat cereal...she says it hurts her teeth? Bud loves cereal but not the sugary kinds. He likes Shredded Wheat and Honey Nut Cheerios (again no need to add sugar)! :)

I love cereal too! Lucky charms, GRAPE NUTS, Quaker oat something, captain crunch. I eat it so much. I once ate marshmallow mateys, chocolate cake and potato chips everyday until i made myself super sick and got sick of the mateys for a good 2 years. Now i'm back to loving them.

You forget, dear Wemdu Pea, I HATE sugar on my cereal. I am a purist in that one thing. Sugar other places is perfectly acceptable. :)

Cereal, interesting thought. I have definitely raised my kids not to have the sugary ones, not that they would refuse it if offered, they are too much like their mother. Everything sugary is a drug. We try to stay away from that vice. Not so easy to do.

Our family seems to be partial to the plain old Cheerios (with bananas for me please.) I for one love Granola, Shredded Mini Wheat, and am discovering the world of Kashi. Love it!! I am definitely not, a pour the sugar on cereal, girl anymore. My kids don't even know people do that, we just never have done it.

As for Lucky Charms and grandpa, that is a totally different issue, and will always bring warm feelings to my heart. I can't remember the last time I had them but I am sure that that love affair would still be alive if I let it be.

MMMM cereal. I am a fan of corn chex myself. Nothing like late night cereal, it seems to taste better at that time of day.
